The following was as workshop done in conjunction with Ben Ryan, a web3 strategist and communicator among other things. The purpose of the workshop was to identify the areas of highest impact that require our most immediate attention. The workshop lasted about an hour and though only had 3 participants, Javier, Evan and Ben, it provided a very fruitful conversation about what we can focus on to move the project forward.
In terms of positive feedback around what we already have moving us forward, the conversation was focused around the amount of human capital interested in contributing and the energy nascent in this space.
We then moved from the positive to things that were 'holding us down'.
There were two key elements that were uncovered in the process of the workshop.
These were reframed as the three questions meant to inspire conversations based around possible solutions. The three questions we came up with were:
Out of these, 4 elements came about as 'action items' which were evaluated on an effort to impact scale. All of these were around the two key focus areas, here organized from low to high effort.
Have a roadmap of priorities that people with different competencies can know where to contribute to
The most immediate item which has the possibility of having a very high impact is creating a roadmap. The idea is to create a framework which will allow contributors to take responsibility of different areas.
Encourage people to ‘own’ a task. Delegate not only work but responsibility
Ownership in the project is a 'new' concept for people used to the traditional model of the corporation. Encouraging ownership and delegating responsibility will allow the community to grow beyond without the bottlenecks that it is currently facing.
Come up with a shared language, in goals, in jokes, in conversation
Culture comes from repeated rituals, but the goal is to have a shared language, words, phrases, memes, and culture. Fostering a culture is the goal, some ways to achieve this is to have structured participation where people can jump in and talk about, and take ownership of the work related to item #2.
